MRI in the Inland Empire

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans give doctors the ability to see inside your body without open surgery.

They help diagnose things like torn ligaments, inflammation, bone issues, infections, tumors, and issues with the spinal cord, brain, and blood vessels.

At Pomona Valley Health Centers, we use the latest MRI scan imaging technologies in Chino Hills, Claremont, and La Verne to get high-resolution images of what’s happening inside your body, helping our doctors diagnose and treat many different conditions.

Why Choose PVHC for Your MRI Scan?

Our caring and skilled board-certified clinicians are dedicated to providing our patients with comprehensive and compassionate care.

Our registered nurses and accredited technologists are focused on keeping you safe and comfortable throughout your entire scan experience—that’s the Pomona Valley Health Centers promise.

Plus, our urgent care with MRI capabilities mean you have access to advanced medical care when you need it most.

What Is an MRI Scan?

An MRI scan is an advanced diagnostic tool that takes highly detailed images of your body’s internal structures. Unlike older imaging technologies, MRI scans use powerful magnets and radio waves to produce clear images of soft tissues, organs, and bones.

How Long Does an MRI Scan Take?

Most MRI scans take less than an hour for each area of your body. While it is among the best diagnostic resources available, it cannot be used safely on every patient.

Patients with automatic defibrillators or pacemakers may not be good candidates for MRI scans because the powerful magnets can damage these devices.

How Does It Work?

An MRI machine uses strong magnets and radio waves to create very detailed images of the inside of the body. Here’s how:

  • The strong magnet makes the atoms in your body line up in the same direction.
  • The machine then sends out radio waves to push these atoms out of alignment.
  • When the radio waves stop, the atoms return to their original position. As they do, they send out varying signals. (The rate at which they move, and therefore their signals, vary depending on the type of tissue and its environment).
  • These varying signals help create highly detailed images of your body.

Why Are They Important?

MRI machines are important because they do not use radiation, unlike CT scans and X-rays, making them safer for patients and doctors.

The absence of radiation also makes MRI technology invaluable for guiding minimally invasive surgical techniques, where precision and safety are crucial.
