What Is a CT Scan?

A CT scan is a special type of X-ray that takes detailed pictures of the inside of your body. Unlike regular X-rays, a CT scan can give healthcare providers a more precise and detailed image.

If you need a CT scan with contrast, you will be given a contrast dye before the scan. This can be in the form of a drink, injection, or both. The dye travels through your bloodstream and makes certain areas of your body stand out, providing clearer and more detailed images for your doctor.

How Long Does a CT Scan Take?

These scans are fast and efficient, with most taking between 10- 30 minutes from start to finish. If your scan requires contrast dye, this will add about 10-15 minutes to the overall time.
