Radiology and imaging services at PVHC

Request an Appointment

Radiology and imaging services help physicians diagnose, monitor, and treat a wide range of health conditions.

At Pomona Valley Health Centers (PVHC), our imaging services provide clear, accurate insights that support better medical decisions and patient care.

Radiology uses advanced imaging technology to view structures inside the body. These images help healthcare providers detect injuries, identify diseases, monitor ongoing conditions, and guide treatment.

PVHC works closely with Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) to provide access to advanced imaging technology and experienced radiology specialists.

Whether imaging is needed for diagnosis, screening, or ongoing care, our team helps ensure patients receive the information and support they need.

Radiology services available at PVHC

Pomona Valley Health Centers offers access to a full range of radiology and diagnostic imaging services, including:

  • General radiology (X-ray)
  • CT scans
  • MRI imaging, including 3 Tesla MRI
  • Ultrasound imaging
  • PET scans
  • DEXA scans (bone density testing)
  • Screening mammography
  • Routine and stat imaging services

Each imaging method serves a specific purpose and helps physicians better understand what is happening inside the body.

Common imaging technologies

X-ray imaging

X-ray imaging, also called radiography, is commonly used to diagnose broken bones, detect infections, and identify abnormalities in tissues or organs. In some cases, contrast materials may be used to improve the visibility of certain structures, such as blood vessels or organs.

Computed tomography (CT) scan

CT scans combine multiple X-ray images to create detailed cross-sectional views of the body. This technology helps physicians evaluate injuries, detect tumors, and examine internal organs, bones, and blood vessels.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

MRI uses powerful magnets and radio waves to produce detailed images of soft tissues and organs. MRI scans are often used to evaluate conditions affecting the brain, spine, joints, liver, heart, and other internal structures.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images of internal body structures. It is commonly used to evaluate organs, guide certain medical procedures, and monitor pregnancy.

Mammography

Mammography uses low-dose X-rays to detect early changes in breast tissue. Screening mammograms help identify breast cancer at earlier stages when treatment may be more effective.

PET scans

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans use small amounts of radioactive material to help detect changes in cellular activity. PET imaging is often used to help identify cancer and evaluate how certain diseases affect body tissues.

Imaging for screening and preventive care

Radiology and imaging services also support preventive care and health screenings. These screenings help identify conditions early, often before symptoms appear.

Imaging may be used to screen for conditions such as:

  • Breast cancer
  • Heart disease
  • Carotid artery disease
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Lung cancer

Early detection allows healthcare providers to recommend treatment or lifestyle changes sooner.

Imaging for diagnosing medical conditions

Radiology plays a key role in diagnosing a wide variety of medical conditions throughout the body. Imaging studies may help detect or evaluate:

  • Arthritis and osteoporosis
  • Blood clots and peripheral artery disease
  • Brain tumors
  • Many types of cancer
  • Pneumonia and chronic lung conditions
  • Liver disease
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Kidney stones
  • Stroke and neurological conditions

By providing detailed images of internal organs and structures, radiology helps physicians determine the most appropriate care plan for each patient.
