What is an Orthopedic Doctor?

An orthopedic doctor, also sometimes called an orthopedic surgeon, is a medical specialist who focuses on the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves.

Orthopedists diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions affecting these structures, including:

  • Fractures and other bone injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Back pain
  • Muscle strains and tears
  • Ligament sprains
  • Tendinitis
  • Bursitis
  • And many more

They can utilize various treatment methods, including:

  • Non-surgical treatments like medication, physical therapy, injections, and bracing.
  • Surgical procedures to repair or replace damaged bones, joints, or soft tissues.

If you're experiencing any pain, weakness, or other problems with your bones, joints, or muscles, an orthopedic doctor can help diagnose the cause and develop a treatment plan to get you back on your feet.
